When I view available updates on the App Store (in OS X Yosemite), a spinner appears at the top left of the application, next to the message 'checking for updates'. After that the App Store becomes unresponsive.
Clear the App Store updates folder When updates are installed by the App Store, the updater packages are placed in the Macintosh HD/Library/Updates folder. If the files downloaded are somehow. When I view available updates on the App Store (in OS X Yosemite), a spinner appears at the top left of the application, next to the message 'checking for updates'. After that the App Store becomes unresponsive. If I force quit and restart the App Store no content is loaded, and the navigation menu (featured, top charts, etc.) is grayed out. The way to get updates on macOS is similar to the way iOS delivers updates—at least, that’s true if you get most of your Mac software from the App Store. To update apps purchased or downloaded from the Mac App Store, open the App Store app and click on Updates. For apps not purchased from the Mac App Store, the way to check for updates varies. I am updating my iMac 5k to the second public beta of El Capitan 10.11.1, after restarting when I completed the download, the 'installing software update' screen showed up. Progress bar moved a tiny bit at the first few seconds, but then stopped forever, not moving even a millimetre for more.
Either go to System Preferences Software Update, or with older versions of macOS open the Mac App Store and check for updates there. If you have problems updating check, how to fix a Mac that.
If I force quit and restart the App Store no content is loaded, and the navigation menu (featured, top charts, etc.) is grayed out. I have to restart the computer for the app store to become responsive again, but it still crashes after I navigate to the 'updates' tab.
As a result of this issue I cannot install OS X updates.
The only troubleshooting I have done so far is to repair disk permissions and look in the Console for possible errors (nothing jumped out at me, but I didn't really know what to look for.)
Any advice on how I might resolve this issue?
Thanks.

So yesterday I updated a bunch of programs on my macbook via the auto update function. Some of the programs I updated required a restart, which I performed when it prompted me to. Now my macbook won't restart all the way. It turns on and gives the chime then goes to a gray screen with an apple on it. After about a minute a spiral loading image appears underneath the apple and about a minute after that the computer shuts off and immediately restarts again only to do the same thing (its stuck in some sort of cycle). I've tried resetting the PRAM and a few other things but nothing seems to work.
